Mibelle Biochemistry has released PhytoCellTec Nunatak, the latest stem cell active based on a plant that survived the last Ice Age. Whereas most other species became extinct, the alpine flower Saponaria pumila survived many years on ice-free mountain peaks called nunataks. The nunatak plants are very resistant against environmental challenges such as extreme temperatures and UV-exposure.

The plant cell culture technology of PhytoCellTec was used to produce in a sustainable way Saponaria pumila cells. The technology is based on the unlimited proliferation potential of dedifferentiated, stem cell-like plant cells. PhytoCellTec Nunatak is an aqueous extract of these cells, according to Mibelle.
